Kurumsal Yaşamın Görünmeyen Tartısı: Vicdan — yatay makale kapak görseli

Viewed from the outside, corporate life
seems to be a world of rules, processes and rational decisions.

Yet inside, another scale often operates unseen:

Conscience

Some decisions are flawless on paper.
They are logical. They can be defended.

After all, injustice rarely arrives with a loud noise.

It creates its own language.
It whispers its justifications.

It does not hurt the conscience; it slowly persuades it.
People take refuge in the safest harbours:
Positions, quiet compromises,
balances left undisturbed…
They reassure themselves that being the good child also matters for career advancement.

But other entries are made in the invisible ledger of working life.

Titles fade.
Justifications are forgotten.
But feelings…
They remain.

People remember not only what happened, but also how they were treated along the way. For me, this is where conscience in working life begins: being able to see the mark our decisions leave on others.

We become desensitised.
Our conscience grows dull. It may even stop weighing certain things altogether.

At such moments, fairness becomes a detail rather than a principle.

And perhaps the quietest vicious circle begins right here:

We continue to feel that we are right.

But our sense of justice slowly slips away.
And time quietly wears away so much:
Titles, decisions, justifications…

Yet the feeling that forms within a person
is the most enduring record of corporate life…
